3D printers are sometimes used in combination with textiles to create 3D support structures and unique designs. Combining additive manufacturing with the textile industry provides new challenges and opportunities, that can be used for constructing prototypes.
In this workshop, the Professorship of Technical Textiles at the TU Chemnitz will present state-of-the-art materials and advancements in composite textiles as well as possibilities for hybrid textile prototyping and a brief overview of smart textiles.
Throughout the semester, independent projects can be built in the campus rapid prototyping lab with the use of large format 3D printers, soldering irons, lathes, milling machines, welders and much more.
